Globally 1,204,428 disadvantaged and vulnerable people have directly benefited in 2018 from Aide et Action’s support through 74 projects implemented in 19 countries! Literacy & Numeracy in Lao PDR Survey – Analytical Report 2019
Access to quality basic education remains a challenge in Laos, particularly in remote areas, where high drop-out rates and low literacy and numeracy rates prevail. Literacy in early grades remains a key challenge, with significant differences between urban and more rural and remote schools, which count many students who do not speak Lao as their first language. This report details the survey research conducted to gather the baseline data on literacy and numeracy that will serve as the basis for future projects of Aide et Action Laos address issues around literacy and numeracy in the country.

This paper provides and discusses some basic statistics on gender parity and disparity in pre-school and primary education in Laos. The focus is on the period from 2000 to the present. It covers Early Childhood, Care, Development, and Education (ECCDE) and primary education.
The Education Situation of Children of Migrant Families in selected ASEAN Countries
This desk review examines the education situation of children who remain in their community while their parents migrate or those children who migrate internally or externally with parents. Its purpose was to identify potential pathways and partnerships to enable Aide et Action to establish education programs that increase access and inclusion for migrant children in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. This desk review examines research, studies, national and regional migrant and education legislation.

In a context of social movements, natural disasters and security crises in many countries, we have continued in 2017 to advance our social mission with all the determination, knowledge and expertise that we are known for. Globally 2,244,111 disadvantaged and vulnerable people have benefited in 2017 from Aide et Action’s support – a 47% increase compared to 2016 – through 80 projects implemented in 19 countries! Among these beneficiaries, 1,545,611 were children.

Phnom Penh Economy & Labor Market Assessment
This document is a summary of a large study that delivers a thorough analysis of the Phnom Penh market economy and highlights the challenges and opportunities for employment for vulnerable youth in Phnom Penh titled “The Phnom Penh Employability and Entrepreneur Potential Assessment: 2014 (EEPA)” by Aide et Action. It provides recommendations upon which Aide et Action will base the program design and curricula for its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program. It was informed by a joint study by The Australian Red Cross and AEA, “Identifying Barriers to Employment for Youth with Disabilities“ (2013), funded by AusAID.

In 2014, two factors have continued to shape Aide et Action’s work in Southeast Asia & China: the economic growth experienced over recent years, and the prevalence of inequities. 2014 has been a year of focus on innovation, guided by the belief that through education, economic and social justice can be created. We placed an emphasis on innovation and will continue to do so. The year 2014 was marked by the beginning of an ambitious new country program (2014–2017) in Cambodia, which aims to reduce disparities and transform children’s lives. With a focus on innovation, and we also created work studios in China so that women could work from home while taking care of their families. We have also integrated Information Communication Technology (ICT) in our projects with the development of a mobile app for access to books and stories in local languages. Etats Généraux 2011 Special Report
The year 2011 was rich in events for Aide et Action. The organization, specializing in development through education, celebrated its 30th anniversary. It also gathered together 5,450 stakeholders for its Third Etats Généraux (Estates General in English, i.e. a Stakeholders’ Parliament) and endowed itself with an international governing body. All these achievements marked a new chapter in the history of the Association, as well as in development circles.

Regional Skill Exchange – Report (2005)
The Skills Exchange 2005 event brought about collaboration and culture exchange within the countries in the Southeast Asia, more particularly Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The participants learnt how each country works in and with its education sector, builds links between school and community, and promotes reading, literacy, library management, and community mobilization. This skills exchange has established a strong network within the region and strengthened communication between local and international stakeholders and partner organizations working in education. The skills exchange report was developed based on discussions, presentations and activities at the event, feedback of the participants, general lessons learnt, suggestions, and fact-finding missions.
Education under the weather – the impacts of climate change on education.
For several years now, issues related to the environment and climate change have been in the spotlight all over the world. As an NGO specializing in education, Aide et Action wants to emphasize both the devastating effect of climate change on not only people’s wellbeing, including their educational opportunities, but also the pivotal role education plays in mitigating and adapting to climate change. Education must simply be put at the heart of climate change policies. A must-read report!

The Skills Exchange 2005 event brought about collaboration and culture exchange within the countries in the Southeast Asia, more particularly Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The participants learnt how each country works in and with its education sector, builds links between school and community, and promotes reading, literacy, library management, and community mobilization. This skills exchange has established a strong network within the region and strengthened communication between local and international stakeholders and partner organizations working in education. The skills exchange report was developed based on discussions, presentations and activities at the event, feedback of the participants, general lessons learnt, suggestions, and fact-finding missions.
School Readiness Toolkit
This regional in-house toolkit on school readiness aims to: create a common language and approach across different Aide et Action teams; introduce and launch Aide et Action theory of change for school readiness projects; and provide tools and checklists for early childhood care and education/school readiness project managers.

In our 13th year of operation in the region, we have continued to make positive impacts on the lives of children, women and families in the most marginalized segments of society in Cambodia, China, Laos and Vietnam.

In 2014, two factors have continued to shape Aide et Action’s work in Southeast Asia & China: the economic growth experienced over recent years, and the prevalence of inequities. 2014 has been a year of focus on innovation, guided by the belief that through education, economic and social justice can be created. We placed an emphasis on innovation and will continue to do so. The year 2014 was marked by the beginning of an ambitious new country program (2014–2017) in Cambodia, which aims to reduce disparities and transform children’s lives. With a focus on innovation, and we also created work studios in China so that women could work from home while taking care of their families. The year 201, marked a time for renewal and changes. Recognizing the need to adapt to a rapidly changing world, we transformed the way we work to match the changes we saw around us. We innovated in response to changes in the landscape in which we operate. The recurring issues of exclusion, ethnicity, gender and poverty triggered us to revolutionize the way we work. The Education Situation of Children of Migrant Families in selected ASEAN Countries
This desk review examines the education situation of children who remain in their community while their parents migrate or those children who migrate internally or externally with parents. Its purpose was to identify potential pathways and partnerships to enable Aide et Action to establish education programs that increase access and inclusion for migrant children in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
