Meeting with Minister MoEYS on Progress and Challenges of CCOSC

-Aide et Action, Cambodia-

On 6th January 2016, delegates of Aide et Action Cambodia met with H.E. Dr. HANG Chuon Naron, Minister, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and relevant departments to discuss the results of a baseline survey of Out of School Children at primary school level conducted under the Cambodia Consortium for Out of School Children (CCOSC).

 

In this meeting Country Program Coordinator, Mr. VORN Samphors presents the result of CCOSC project from July to December 2015. Aide et Action Cambodia and its partner organisations supported 16,020 out of school children under the following components Children with Disabilities, Ethnic Minority Children, Poor and Remote, Street children and Over Age, to go to school in 19 Provinces.

 

Mr. LAM Socheat, CCOSC Head of Program continued to make a presentation on the results of the baseline survey on Out of School Children. The survey had and objective to find out the real, on the ground, situation and the barriers faced by Out of School Children to get an education. The baseline survey was conducted in 19 Provinces with 3,268 families; 4,340 out of school children. The method was done through random sampling at many levels (Provincial, Village and Family) for representing the out of school children in the target area of national level of Cambodian Consortium for Out of School Children.

 

H.E. Dr. HANG Chuon Naron, Minister, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport expressed appreciation to Aide et Action Cambodia and its partner organisations for its work with children, and specifically Out of School Children in Cambodia. He encouraged Aide et Action Cambodia and partners to continue cooperate with MoEYS to cope with specific issue in the target area.
