A new referral library was launched at the end of March by Aide et Action and Sipar, in the close collaboration with the ministry of Education, in Kravagn High School, Pursat province.
The main objective is to extend the network of referral library and also to promote the reading activities within the Cambodian people, and more particularly the youth.
More than 200 students, teachers and local authorities were present during this special event.
The choice of this library is not at random. The building, large and well-ventilated, is ready to welcome the students who look for reading; the school director commits since many years to the development of the reading activities; the teachers and the students as well as the communities surrounding express strongly the request of reading.
“My dream is getting realized. Thanks to the support of the associations and the ministry of Education, my library will be well equipped like those in Phnom Penh. For my part, I will redouble my effort to maintain this library as it is important to develop the knowledge of the teachers, the students and the people”, told the school director.
“I could deepen my knowledge thanks to the richness of the books in this library. My students, them as well, can do easier the homework and the researches, and it can thus facilitate my teaching”, emphasized a teacher of final year class.
There are still many things to improve related to this project: increase the shelves and the Khmer books, continue to train the librarian, develop the educational projects in link with the school and the researches.
“I am delighted that everyone here is interested in reading, and commit actively to the development of referral library. I will do my best to find more interesting books for this library”, declared Mr. Prasith CHIN, in charge of Communication and Sponsorship of Aide et Action.
