We were delighted to welcome Luciano PICCOLO and Wilhelmus Age LEIJENAAR – one a former computer scientist and the other a doctor – to two primary schools of the district of Vangvieng, in the province of Vientiane, where we are working in Laos.
The pair enjoyed a half day visit to an Elementary School where we have been implementing projects since 2016. The visit allowed our guests to observe how students are using digital technologies; how community members are preparing school lunches; and how students are socializing with one another during recess.
“This is our first visit to Laos. Our lunch at the school consisted of water bindweed, pork and other vegetables served with steamed rice. It was delicious and it must be the same for the children because they finished everything” said Luciano, speaking of his experience.
After lunch, we took our guests to visit a public school supported only by the government and not a beneficiary of any of our programmes. Comparing the two schools, both visitors noted that in the school supported by Aide et Action, the students seemed more outgoing. They had eagerly chatted with visitors and seemed to be enjoying a well-equipped learning environment. “We were very pleased to see that with the support of Aide et Action, children have more learning materials and good food. Children and teachers appear very satisfied with the quality of learning and teaching in their school and with their daily lives” noted Luciano and Wihelmus.
