A series of radio program is organized from February to July 2013 in order to promote the reading within the Cambodian people.
The principal objective is to provide to Cambodian people, and especially the one who live in the remote areas where the documentary center is not enriched, with opportunity to access to legends, stories, reportages and other necessary documents to their learning and to their daily living, through the telling on the radio.
This is an initiative of Aide et Action and Sipar in the close collaboration with the partners working in this sector in Cambodia. This is a live broadcast every Saturday and Sunday from 11.30 to 12.30 on the South East Asia radio, a popular local radio station.
To do that, some volunteer students are trained to be able to manage this program. In addition to the telling, they can explain and conduct a synthesis the contents of the text, and also to answer to the questions of the auditors through the direct calling. The importance of the reading in improving of the knowledge and the daily life is also mentioned in each program.
“I am very delighted to assist in this project as I can help the Cambodian people, and especially the children, to understand the importance of the reading. In addition, I can share with them my knowledge and experience in order to improve their difficulties in the daily life”, indicated the volunteers’ representative.
The result is very satisfying as there are many call-in during each program. It shows that Cambodian people is interesting more and more in reading. Furthermore, the team and the youth volunteers plan to implement other activities such as reading in the streets, organization of the national day for reading…
