Pursat- “My name is Kheng Mao, I am 41 years old and the local director of Kravagn High School in Pursat Province. Currently, I am very happy about the fact that AEA has chosen my school’s library as a reference library here, because it is stimulating reading activities in our region. Before the library was seen more a storeroom and the interest of both teachers and students in the library was minimal as our books and documents were not very useful. Hence, making people read was a challenge for me.
But, thanks to the support of AEA, this is finally overcome and my library is more and more up to national standards. Also, the librarians are confident with the new material after the project staff trained them. It is only three months ago that the library got equipped, but I have witnessed a big change since. Students and teachers alike enjoy being in the library now and use necessary documents for the national syllabus and the well-ordered material for their classes on foreign languages, sciences, modern technology and the everyday life. I noticed that also outsiders borrow more and more books, which means that reading is also getting more popular with the people around the school.
Of course there are many things left to do, but I will try to continue my work with the team to make this library the prime example for all other libraries in the region.”
