Phnom Penh, 30 June 2015 – AEA Cambodia wins best performance in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Cambodia Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Awards 2015.
This is one of the Cambodia’s most prestigious awards, given only to entrepreneurs who are outstanding in the field of ICT. Honouring excellence and dedicated to the best achievements in the country, it is a benchmark for success in terms of innovation and creativity. The CSR category rewards the best application software, hardware or its combination to support local community, with the aim to improve the wellbeing, quality of life and standard of living of communities with the ultimate intent to bridge the digital divide.
“We are deeply honoured to receive this award. I would like to dedicate this accolade to my team, our partners and all Khmer Library active users for their collective support. Knowing that our accomplishments have been deemed worthy of such merit motivates us to continue to strive for excellence,” said AEA Cambodia Director Samphors Vorn. “The Khmer Library is just the beginning. The ongoing and innovative development of ICT solutions using the Khmer LEARN app platform will further improve reading, writing, teaching and learning in Cambodia.”
The Khmer Library is an app for Android and iOS that allows users to read in Khmer anytime, anywhere. It has revolutionized reading habits by offering free access to hundreds of e-books in Khmer as well as other languages for Cambodian children, teenagers and adults. Through the use of this technology, the limited access to traditional books in Cambodia is overcome in a cost efficient and engaging manner. Already more than 38,000 people are regularly using the Khmer Library.
AEA Cambodia is now developing Khmer LEARN multimedia resource. This will be continually updated to ensure educational materials are available through the platform to target teachers, students, parents; anyone into the future. This application could be replicated in other languages. Khmer LEARN is actively seeking private sector partners sponsorship for its continued growth and expansion.
